THE ADDAMS FAMILY

Our title sequence for The Addams Family serves as a prologue showing the passage of 13 years in the life of the family. It bridges the time between Morticia and Gomez’ marriage and the present-day starting point of the film’s story. Inspired by the original artwork of Charles Addams, we digitally illustrated a series of unique family portraits that depict the passage of time, and the growth of Wednesday and Pugsley.

The camera travels across the gallery of paintings, moving seamlessly in and out of them while lightning casts dramatic shadows throughout. The typography animates playfully, sometimes rising up like a zombie from the grave, or descending on a spider’s web. The journey through family pictures helps to endear the audience to the unique weirdness of the Addams family.
