Reflecting the richness and romance of Italian cuisine, each of the openings for the Netflix series From Scratch is like a dish in itself. Or more precisely, a moment in its preparation. Each has a thematic relevance to story that follows. In the wedding episode for example, we created a tableaux with baci (“kisses”), an Italian hazelnut chocolate that is said to give the couple calmness amidst the madness of the day. The warm, interior lighting of the scene is evocative of the the Florentine chateau where the wedding is held. The food symbolizes the couple’s journey together, through both the good times and bad, from discovery to loss, following Amahle as she rebuilds her life… from scratch.
