High Value Target
Client
High Value Target is a political thriller about the hunt for Saddam Hussein, based on the true account of CIA analyst John Nixon. The title sequence captures the violence and chaos of the U.S. invasion of Iraq, alongside the uncertainty and moral conflict Nixon felt as he delved deeper into the search for WMDs. Shifting sands obscure imagery of the war playing out on screens buried beneath them. Flowing oil creeps over the scenes, then ignites—flames consuming the frame as the truth lies somewhere beneath the violent conflagration. As the sequence evolves and the war escalates, the shapes of the screens are revealed to be fragments of a puzzle, gradually coming into alignment. But the clarity is fleeting: one final explosion shatters the completed picture, scattering it all apart.
