THE CROWDED ROOM

The opening sequence for the psychological thriller series, The Crowded Room, was created with a focus on emphasizing the thriller aspect while maintaining an emotional core. The concept of a continuously animating painting was explored to reflect the main character’s mental state, presenting a dark and fragmented progression with underlying connections between moments. The initial frames were digital paintings created in black and white, with an emphasis on inexact poses to achieve an authentic and painterly feel. The search for the right look for the logo led to handmade, painterly lettering, and color was later added to refine the frames as original digital art. The animators worked closely to ensure fluidity and seamless transitions between poses and scenes, allowing for freedom and leeway in the organic nature of the figures and forms. The logo design underwent careful consideration, and we selected a digitally painted version of Gill Sans Nova for a classic and impactful look.
