For Season 4 of Ted Lasso, yU+co returned to the title sequence we originally created for the series, evolving its familiar visual metaphor to reflect a new chapter at AFC Richmond. The season brings Ted back to Richmond to take on a different challenge: coaching the club’s second-division women’s team, the Lady Greyhounds.
The sequence continues to visualize Ted’s ability to transform the people and places around him through optimism and empathy. Incorporating live-action footage of Ted into our custom-built CG stadium, a wave of color radiates outward from his seat, traveling across the stands and transforming them from blue and graffitied to clean Richmond red, ultimately spelling his name across the stadium. For Season 4, we revisited the environment with new graffiti and visual details inspired by the arrival of the women’s team and the changing world of Richmond, allowing the sequence to evolve alongside the story while preserving the imagery audiences have come to recognize.
Much like Ted himself, the title sequence returns to familiar territory changed by new circumstances. By updating the details within an established design rather than reinventing it, the Season 4 opening carries forward the original idea at its heart: one person’s positive influence can spread outward, transforming an entire community.
