Life of Pi marks yU+co.'s fifth collaboration with director Ang Lee. yU+co is proud to be part of the visual design process in creating the film's stereo opening sequence. The titles are integrated into the scene which features an array of exotic zoo animals. The typography is animated to create clever interactions that play off of the animals' movements. The End Crawl integrates traditional Indian mandalas and icons taken from Pi's survival manual. The imagery and typography are designed in 3D space to create a dynamic stereo effect. In addition to designing the film's Main title sequence and end crawl, we developed a multiplane stereographic transitional technique used for several designed sequences within the body of the film.
